Yes, it’s called the Hilo Brewfest… but it’s not just about the brews.

It’s also about food from nearly 20 great local restaurants, hot licks from rockin’ bands, a beautiful venue overlooking Hilo Bay — and it’s about raising money to help with needs right here in East Hawaii.

The 7th annual Hilo Brewfest is 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Wainaku Executive Center in Hilo, located at 26-238 Hawaii Belt Road (those with VIP tickets can enter at 1 p.m.).

The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hilo, and $60 general admission tickets are still available on the Brewfest website, hilobrewfest.com.

There will be live music and more than 80 types of beer to choose from. “Ono-licious” food at booths offering a variety of grinds are scattered all over the grounds.

And it’s all for a good cause: Money raised by this festival goes to worthy causes in East Hawaii. The Brewfest will again donate a large portion of the proceeds to the Hilo Medical Foundation Residency Program an the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii.

In addition, another portion goes into the Rotary Club’s Foundation for distribution to worthy causes in the community and in the world.
